Prada Invites 4 creative minds for F/W 18 show

Fashion Show

Prada's fashion-show, for the Winter of 2018, was held yesterday, January 14, 2018 at the depositories of Viale Ortles in Milan. The venue was turned into a wonderful, surreal and colorful Prada warehouse by OMA*AMO. Although this fashion week is scheduled for menswear, Prada showed fashion made for men and women. Personally I feel this show was spectaculair! It's high-tech, unglamorous and young vibe is über-modern. Miuccia Prada showed us a new lifestyle. If you are interested to see this show, best go to prada.com and watch the movie they made for the livestream.

Prada Invites 4 creative men

An addition to the presentation was the new project 'Prada Invites.' Prada invited four creative minds to each work on a unique item. Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Konstantin Grcic, industrial designers, and Herzog & de Meuron and Rem Koolhaas, architects. They each worked with the very simple brief: create an item using Black Nylon fabric. They all came up with garments for men, that were showed amongst the Prada designs. The designs by the 4 creative minds was marked by a yellow bucket-hat worn by the models, four of them.

Black Nylon

Black Nylon written with capitals because it's the cloth which is never out of stock at Prada. It's been used for decades to produce clothes, shoes and accesories (you know; the fabric of which the black bags with the triangle shaped logo in metal are made of.)

At prada.com its reads about the 'Prada Invites' project: "[manifests] four different approaches that investigate the poetic, practical, technical and aesthetic aspect of nylon." That's a moutful for saying that 4 men are experimenting with nylon cloth, but hey; always present ideas in a nice package, right?!

Prada invites Screen Shot

Prior to the fashionshow Prada revealed 4 short clips to explain the project is about and show the vision of the creative minds. Konstantin Grcic's concept seems the most clear, realistic and fashionable. (click image above to see that clip)

“The key reference for my proposal is the fishing vest, representing the idea of a bag (which is what the nylon material has been primarily used for) as a garment. My first thought was to recreate Joseph Beuys’ famous fishing vest in Prada Black Nylon. Later, I worked on two models, which interpret the theme in a more abstract way: Apron and Hood.” -Konstantin Grcic (read more prada.com)

And we're off to the convention center. Which is also our holiday spot for this year. We are global citizens, wordly wanderers. We are proteced from the cold by High-tech gear, we don't need socks. Our summer outfits are padded and printed. Our work-wear is made from padded nylon and other thick high-tech cloth (or is that wool?) the colors are in tonal hues of black, yellow, purple, brown and green. #auchhaben@prada#livestream this #runwayreport was brought to you by #mimiberlin #live from our #headquarters #fashionblogger #pradafw18 #mfwfw18 #pradashows #fashionweek #milano #fashionshow #mimiberlinmodeburo
