City Dreams

–until 21.10.18

The first retrospective exhibition of work by late Congolese sculptor Bodys Isek Kingelez. Kingelez made sculptures of imagined buildings and cities that reflected dreams for his country, his continent, and the world. Kingelez’s “extreme maquettes” are utopian models. The vibrant sculptures are created from an incredible range of everyday materials and found objects. The installation at the MOMA will cover 25 years of art pieces, from individual buildings to extensive metropolitan projects inspired by African cities.
