John Stezaker was born 1949. He is a conceptual artist who was among the fi rst wave of British artists to react against the art of ‘Pop’: Pop Art. Stezaker is one of the leading artists in contemporary photographic collage since the 1970s. His work was rediscovered in the mid-2000s by the art market. Today, 19 collages from his ‘Mask series’ are on show at The Whitworth museum, a rare occasion to see his work up-close.
