Modular Componibile Smile has a Face

Componibile / COMPONIBILI

The Componibili modular system cabinet was designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri in 1969, the storage unit from Kartell is a design classic, as you probably know already. Available round and square, or rested on wheels. They can be found on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. The storage elements get a make-over once in a while: added colours, modern material; such things. The latest update is named: the Componibile Smile.

Componibile Smile

Kartell gave the original Componibili a Smile for its 50th Anniversary. Or rather designer Fabio Novembre gave the Iconic cabinet some irony: in the shape of a smile and a wink. Result; Furniture with an Emoji ;) kartell.com

Seen at the Imm Cologne 2018

Designer Fabio Novembre is the newest designer for Kartell. His ironic and visionary style was featured, during a special exhibition dedicated to the designer, at the Kartell Flagship Store in Cologne. Next to the Componibile Smile, the new EUR stool and the Lantern lamp designed by Novembre were highlighted. WOTH Magazine on IMM Cologne

“Kartell Game” app

Kartell is now dedicating a new virtual project to the icon created by Anna Castelli Ferrieri with its “Kartell Game” app. The game is an iPad and iPhone-compatible iOS application, an original tribute to Componibili that’s both fun and educational. In the arcade-style game – a reference to the 1960s, the decade that saw the birth of the Componibili – players stack four pieces of the same colour one on top of the other, trying to earn as many points as possible. As the game becomes progressively more difficult with each level, players learn fun and interesting facts and information through sentences and images that tell the story of this timeless design icon. The app is available on the App Store.
